Attacking Anxiety Depression
¡°My Sister is Suffering from Anxiety and Depression.
How Should I Help Her?¡±
Family members are the ones that understand us the best,
due to similar backgrounds and similar teachings and values.
When The Family Member Suffers
Any illness which affects one member of the family, also
affects the entire family. Though, it may not seem so, your
family suffers when you suffer. Hence, your family is always
your strongest support for your anxiety and depression.
Compassion and patience are one of the best virtues a mother
will ever have. Regardless of your age, your mother can always
give you the same warm hug she gave you after a vaccination
shot or when your favorite toy broke. A mother¡¯s reassurance
comes from deep within and is often a secure place for us
when we are feeling low or scared.
Siblings have a lot of memories to share. And hence, when
attacking anxiety and depression, your brothers or sisters
may use memories of all the fun times you had as a tool to
battle feelings of sadness and anxiety.
Most of the time, family members can be more effective than
the most highly trained therapist, when attacking anxiety
and depression in a family member. Watching old home videos
or going through old photographs, are good ways to cheer up
the mood and makes a depressed individual realize that having
a loving family is one of the greatest treasures of all.
An anxious person often feels that he is all alone in the
battle of fighting anxiety, hence, you should listen to his
problems and give him a shoulder to cry on, which will help
get rid of feelings of loneliness. If you feel, his work is
his stress factor, then maybe you can plan a fun day out with
the rest of the family is a great way to attack anxiety and
depression.
In certain cases, you can focus on the problem and try to
find a solution. Just pay attention and more care to your
siblings, you will soon find that they are on their path to
recovery.
While the anti depression and anti anxiety drugs are easily
available, but the prescription of encouragement, appreciation
and unconditional love is far more effective, with the results
being ever lasting.
