Useful & Simple Tips On Giving Body Massage
Massage has been long known for its relaxing and pleasurable
sensation for distress. Giving a good body massage is an art
requiring thorough study. Besides personal skills, there are
also different massage products. Of course, if you wish to
succeed in massage business, you need to take up courses.
The few factors important for a good body massage include
the massage area, atmosphere, clothing, and movement techniques
over the body.
1. Massage Area:
First of all, get ready with your massage area. It could
be a chair, a table, or a bed. If you need to use a chair
or a table, put warm towels or a comfortable blanket on it.
Your massage area should be firm and supportive, for example,
a soft bed with cushion is not suitable for a good massage.
2. Supporting Means:
It is best that you always keep some supporting aids, such
as pillows, for your arms. You might need to place your arms
on these in different positions during the massage.
3. Atmosphere:
Atmosphere plays an important factor in your body massage
session. Generally, a good massage should have dim lights.
Bright light tend to stress the nerves, use aromatherapy candles
instead. It can greatly enhance the effect of the massage.
A light, relaxing music also adds to the pleasure and calm
of the session. Besides, soft instrumental music is recommended
as well.
4. Clothing:
A good body massage will ideally be given to a bare body.
But, you could keep your clothes on, with at least a bare
back for the duration of the massage.
5. Massage Oil:
Pour a little massage oil on your palms and rub gently on
the recipient’s back. Don’t use too much oil so
as to let it absorb well and avoid making the person’s
skin slippery with it.
6. Fan Stroke:
Fan stroke involves a gentle movement given before a deeper
massage. To do this, place your hands flat on both sides of
the recipient’s spine just above the hips. Then, gently
press the sides on the spine. Slide your hands forward slowly
till they reach the shoulder blades. Move them over the shoulder
blades and then back to the starting point. Repeat it for
few times.
Kneading: After fan stroke, move to kneading. Slowly knead
the muscles, not the skin.
7. Raking:
This process means using your hands like a rake. Use your
fingers, not your finger nails. At the end of your massage,
give a few feather light touches. Then, draw your fingers
slowly and gently down the back. Just run your fingers on
the skin without pressing anywhere else.
