Comparison & Facts On Unwanted Hair Removal Techniques
Whatever your problem might be, whether you suffer from hair
growth conditions like hypertrichosis or hirsutism, or you
simply have some hair growing in places where you hated, there
is a wide selection of hair removal options available today.
T
Basically, hair removal procedures can be categorized into
two groups: which are the permanent and temporary. The permanent
procedures involve removing unwanted hair permanently and
shall never return. There are also chances where these techniques
turn out to be semi-permanent and have to be repeated over
time. Temporary hair removal techniques only last for short
periods of time and are subject to the body's normal hair
growth cycle.
People who look for permanent hair removal will usually be
treated by a licensed Esthetician or hair removal professional.
While temporary hair removal procedures can also be performed
by an Esthetician, you can always opt for home-treatments.
In fact, most women treat hair removal as part of their beauty
routines. They always shave their legs and underarms, pluck
their eyebrows, and have pubic hair trimmed or removed to
accommodate today's fashions. Some men also shave their body
hair for beauty reasons, and most men do shave their facial
hair unless they allow it to grow out as a beard, goatee,
or moustache. And today, many athletes, especially swimmers
and body builders, will perform hair removal procedures to
enhance their performance, their appearance, or both.
Electrolysis
Electrolysis is a method of hair removal which treats every
hair follicle independently by inserting a needle into the
hair follicle and then subjecting it to an electric charge.
Depending on the size of the treatment area, this process
can go on for months. Given that this process is painful,
the side effects can include scaring and infection. The cost
of this process can run as high as $1,000-$3,000 for the legs
or pubic area.
Laser Treatment
Laser hair removal is an FDA approved treatment but can only
be performed by a licensed and trained professional. During
this procedure, a small laser beam is used to damage the hair
follicles for good. This process is relatively painless and
works best on people with light colored skin and dark hair.
It is not recommended if you are deeply tanned. For the removal
of facial hair, it costs about $1,000, and anywhere from $2,000
to $3,000 for hair removal from the legs and pubic area.
Photo Epilation/Pulse Laser
Almost the same as laser treatment, this FDA approved procedure
uses a pulsed light beam to destroy the hair follicles. This
method works best for removing hair from the underarms and
the bikini area. There are no restrictions concerning skin
color, tanning, or hair color. The costs can be anything from
from $500 to $2,000 or more, depending upon the area of the
body treated.
As for the temporary hair removal methods, they include a
wide selection of hair removal creams, shaving, plucking,
waxing, and more exotic procedures. While millions of people
are spending their fortune for hair growth, the rest of us
are spending our money trying to get rid of it!
