Danger Of Liposuction
Potential Risk In Liposuction That You
MUST Know!
Any surgery will come with some degree of risk. But, when
you compare liposuction to the rest of the cosmetic surgeries,
this is definitely the least dangerous. This is simply because
there is comparatively less body invasion in liposuction than
in other methods of cosmetic surgery.
There are of course certain degrees of danger in liposuction.
But, the danger during the procedure is much less than the
danger that lurks in the post-operative care. By this, we
are referring to infection, pain, scarring, etc. Now, let’s
categorize a couple of risks in liposuction.
#1: Shock
When a sudden of too much fat extraction is performed, the
body sometimes reacts with going into shock. This can be extremely
dangerous especially when the patient in under general anesthesia.
#2: Scars
When the surgery is done inappropriately, it might leave
unsightly scars. The scars not only look bad, they are also
an indication that liposuction has been performed. This is
why you should only go for an experienced and board certified
dermatologist should be used for the liposuction procedure.
#3: Lidocaine allergy
Until today, the exact safe level of lidocaine use has not
been fully determined. Hence, what works for one might not
work for another. There have been cases where large amounts
of lidocaine provoke violent allergies. Lidocaine toxicity
is extremely dangerous because unless counteractive measures
are taken immediately, it can result in death.
#4: Organ perforation
When the surgery is done by an inexperienced hand, the walls
of the organs under the skin are at the risk of perforation.
This can be extremely dangerous. This is one of the reasons
why an experienced surgeon’s skill is a must for liposuction,
it is even more so if the area for fat extraction is large
and it would take a long time to do so.
#5: Blood clots
The situation can happen when the surgery is performed over
a long period of time causing the blood to pool in certain
areas of the body. Blood clots formation is a common danger
of liposuction and this is why several short sessions are
encouraged rather than one long surgery.
#6: Hemodilution
This is a rare danger of liposuction but it does happen.
This can happen mostly when the surgeon injects too much of
anesthetic into the fat layer. Experience and expertise of
the surgeon is the best preventive against this danger.
As you can see, every surgery comes with danger and risk,
it is better that we opt for non-surgical
body shaping alternatives if possible to reduce the risk,
or avoid the risk completely!
