DIY Part I: Home Hair Removal Techniques
If you are one of the crowd who have been bothering by unwanted
hair growth, but wish not spend thousands of dollars to hair
removal professionals, take note! In fact, there are plenty
choices of home hair removal procedures which are easy to
do and relatively inexpensive. Now, let’s look at some
of the more common options.
Tips for Men Shaving
Shaving in the shower helps to soften up the beard and hence
promotes a smoother shave. Either cream or gel, it does not
matter how much you apply, but how you apply it matters. You
should apply shaving cream or lotion by massaging it lightly
onto the skin. This action will cause the pilli muscles to
life the hairs up which makes them easier to cut. Usually,
single blades give a better shave than double or triple blades.
Always change your blade when it is not sharp anymore. Shave
in the direction that your hair grows for the first one or
two passes, then reverse and shave against the grain at the
last time. Rinse your face with cool water after your shave
and pat, don’t rub with a towel. Some men need to shave
their faces twice every day although daily shaving is much
more common.
Tips for Women Shaving
Women should only choose the razors specially designed for
them. They are designed to be more convenient and handy to
be use at the right angle for legs and underarms. Before applying
your gel or shaving cream, run warm water on legs and underarms
first. There is no need for expensive shaving lotions, you
can just substitute with hair conditioner. Women are better
off shaving at night when body fluids are not so tightly packed
around the hair follicles. Pay attention when shaving the
bikini area. Your underwear can chaff you if you leave a shaving
rash behind. Shaving facial and moustache hair will not make
it grow back thicker. That's an old wives tale. Underarms
are usually shaved twice per week, depend on the rate of hair
growth and desired look. Legs may also require the same frequency
although many women find that weekly shaving is enough.
Tips for Tweezing
Clean your tweezers in hot water before use. It is even
better if you wipe it with alcohol. Tweezing is great for
shaping eyebrows or removing stray hairs on the face and chin
area. You should never attempt to tweeze nose hair though,
it might cause infection! Always tweeze in the same direction
as the hair growth. You can open the pores by covering the
area to be tweezed with a hot face cloth for a minute. Don't
apply creams or moisturizers before tweezing though. It can
cause infected or blocked pores and it might make you slip
with the tweezers. Tweezing usually lasts for two weeks or
more.
Tips for using Depilatories
First of all, you need to check for allergic reaction by
applying a small dab to the spot that you want to treat. As
written on the label, wait for 24 hours before doing it for
the larger area. Depilatories work best after a bath when
the hair is softened and your pores are open. Keep track of
your time so you don't keep the product on for too long. Do
not treat on the area with a rash, cuts, mosquito bites, or
acne blemishes. Most women apply depilatories twice monthly,
although that frequency will depend on your rate of hair growth.

options.
