Eat It Raw

Raw Food Diet For Weight Loss.

Today, there are many of those who swear by the raw foods diet although it won’t probably become the mainstream of diet. Not only will this diet help you lose weight, but it is also supposed to be healthier than any other way of eating. It is a simple concept, yet hard to follow diet. Because proponents of the raw foods diet believe that nutrients are destroyed when food is cooked, they eat all or most of their food in its raw state, or as raw as it can be.

No doubt, the raw foods diet is a vegetarian diet. In fact, this vegan diet does not contain any animal products at all. Of course, this diet is not for everyone. However, it’s not quite as restrictive and boring as you might think. In fact, there are many great raw foods cookbooks available out there to show you how to prepare a wide variety of main courses, desserts and snack foods with only raw fruits and vegetables as ingredients. To your surprise, that there is a substitute for pasta that can be made on the raw foods diet, which the ‘pasta’ is actually shreds of vegetable, such as squash, carrot or potato.

Though it’s called raw foods, some food on this diet is cooked a little, not for long or at high temperature. Of course the diet is made up of salads and other raw vegetable dishes. And fruit and fruit juices round out this eating plan.

The best part about this is, if you follow the raw foods diet, you can eat as much as you want, and you will lose weight for sure. Most fruits and vegetables are so low in fat and calories, while so high in water and fiber, they are the good source to help you to lose weight. So, as long as you stick to the foods on the diet, you are almost certain to succeed.

This diet is also very healthy in some ways. Today, many people consume more types of harmful fat than ever before which will have long lasting and far reaching implications for health. Eating raw fruits and vegetables can help you to avoid these problems altogether. Also, you will get plenty of vitamins, certain minerals, and antioxidants, which have cancer-fighting properties.

However, the raw foods diet is not perfect. It might not give you sufficient calories especially for people who are still growing. This might be the last thing you care since you want to lose weight, but it might be a problem in the long run. Eating too few calories might be as harmful as eating too many. It trains your body to expect only a reduced number of daily calories, and it will slow down your metabolism. And when you start eating more daily calories, your metabolism may not be able to adjust. You will burn calories at a slower rate, and that can lead to increase weight issues in the long run.

There are a few setbacks with this diet, due to the fact that you are eliminating several full food groups, you are at the risks of nutritional deficiencies. It may well be true that raw foods are higher in nutrients than cooked vegetables but you run the risk of running low on protein, calcium and iron. It is possible to eat a healthy and adequate raw foods diet, but it does require some work and planning. It is a good idea if you could add protein to your diet.

You can consider trying the raw foods die if you wish to lose weight or improve health. If you use it for a limited period of time, it may work to cleanse your body, allowing you to rid yourself of toxins and boost your vitamin intake. As a way of life, you have to consider carefully if you decide to continue this way of eating. Although it seems appealing, but you do have to make sure you get adequate amounts of protein and minerals.
