Fear Causing Stress
Understand how certain fears can cause us stress
and learn to overcome our fears.
Like it or not, fear is the root of all problems in our life
and it is one of the major reasons that causing our stress.
When a person is in fear, the emotions are often tangled in
a web of confusion that prevents a person from realizing the
actual problem.
Most of us are fear of the worst to happen, which is when
a threat presents. This is where stress management will come
into help, since most fears are explainable and overrated.
If you are at risk of losing his or her job, then the person
has a legit reason to fear, however, if the person has learnt
stress management techniques in the first place, then he or
she would know how to handle it. We know that the person is
at risk of losing job, but we do not know the reasons behind.
However, there are few possible reasons, such as that the
person has violated a company, or else there could be a retrenchment.
If the violation of policy is the reason, then we know that
he or she made a bad decision in a certain area, acting on
her or his emotions rather than rationality. Now we can see
the source of stress, this person has failed their stress
management. But, if it’s retrenchment, then the situation
was out of their control.
If a person has a stress management plan, including a saving
account kept for emergency use, we know that this person will
still be able to survive until he or she finds a new job.
So, you see the importance of having a stress management scheme.
Now we see that expectations are a part of life and very
often this is the reason that causes fears. A well-constructed
stress management scheme would prepare us to face the unexpected.
Now if this person was searching for a new career, then we
know that he or she is on the right foot to reduce their stress
If the person waited until the last moment to search for a
new job, then it is obvious that this person had to rely on
help of someone else, and did not see the existence of potential
threats.
If the person had seen it coming, he or she would have had
a stress management scheme to reduce the stressors and stress.
We can never determine for our future and we can only live
for today, but, we do have a choice to be prepared to face
the fear that comes our way.
What about exaggerated fear? What if the fear of the person
is that he or she could never get on their feet again if they
lost the job? We can see that this person is definitely stressed
out, since hope and stress management is non-existing. If
a person has education, skills and experience, we know that
it is not hard for him or her to land a job again. But, the
fear has been exaggerated. He or she lacks of confidence and
self-esteem.
After analyzing the situation, now we need a stress management
scheme that works with the behaviors, attitude, personality,
and believes. Learning a good technique can help us to build
confidence, change behaviors and attitudes, and even change
our personality and believes for the better. Therefore, what
we need in this scene is learning skills, practicing positive
influences, a better understanding of how stress works, and
readjustment tools that will potentially help the person to
learn to think accordingly to life’s demands.
