Overview On The Different Hair Removal Methods

The process of hair removal, is generally for the purpose of enhancing the physical appeal and look ”clean”.

As human beings, we have hair growing all over their body, except on their palms. However, we tend to feel that hair showing in certain parts of their body is either embarrassing or blemishing their physical appearance, which is why we feel the need to remove it from these spots. The top ten areas where humans indulge in hair removal include face, head, legs, underarms, eyebrows, chest, eyelashes, back, pubic area, and abdomen.

Types Of Hair Removal Methods

Basically, there are two types of hair removal, which are temporary and permanent. Before we jump to any hair removal techniques, we should know that hair growth starts from beneath the skin’s surface.

If you wish to remove hair above the skin’s surface then that is most likely a temporary method, which is also known as depilation. Shaving, trimming, using creams or powders that dissolve hair or using rough surfaces to rub off hair are all temporary methods.

Permanent hair removal, also called epilation, refers to the action of removing hair not just from the surface but removing it completely along with the root. Tweezing, waxing, sugaring, threading, etc. are all epilation methods. Then there are the more sophisticated and advanced epilation methods such as electrolysis and laser hair removal.

Do You Need Hair Removal?

Apart from cosmetic reasons, medical reasons could also be the reason that why people want to remove hair. This is required when due to some hormonal imbalance women start sprouting hair at places where they are not supposed to, such as facial hair.

In addition, before surgery a patient’s hair requires removal in order to reduce chances of infection. Usually, shaving is used in this situation.

Social and cultural reasons require hair removal sometimes. Would you look better at the workplace clean-shaven or with stubble or would you like to flaunt hairy legs on a date? These are also parts of the considerations for shaving. Many religions across the world also involve some kind of hair removal ritual.
