Hair Sugaring
Tips & Tricks for Hair Sugaring
Similar to waxing, sugaring is also one of the methods to
remove body hair. In fact, it is known as sugaring because
the ingredients are made up of sugar and honey. The paste
will stick to the hairs and not to the skin. In the end, you
still end up ripping out you hair by the roots, it is as painful
as waxing.
Most people support the fact that sugaring works best on
hair that grows on the upper lip and the bikini line. It is
going to be a messy process, so make sure you do it in the
bathroom or some other area where it will be easy to clean
up. The result will last for about two to six weeks. Fine
hair will usually start to show around two weeks after the
procedure is done, and the thicker, darker hair growth becomes
obvious four weeks later or so.
Homemade formulas are working just fine. It is easy to prepare
your own sugaring solution right at home. All you need is
1 cup of white sugar, juice from 1/2 of a lemon, 1/4 cup of
honey. Then, mix the lemon juice, sugar and honey in a microwave
safe bowl. Leave it in microwave on high for about 2-3 minutes,
until the bubbles begin to appear on the mixture and turn
smooth. Turn off the microwave and leave the bowl to cool
down to a safe handling temperature, for about 5 minutes or
longer. Besides the actual sugaring formula, you will have
to get ready with a wooden tongue depressor to apply the mixture,
some corn starch to help prepare the skin, as well as some
strips of white cotton cloth. You can also go with an old
cotton undershirt.
Clean and dry the area to be treated thoroughly. Make sure
that there is no residue from soap or body lotions. Apply
a dusting of cornstarch to the area to be treated to remove
the excess oils from your skin. By using the tongue depressor,
or another suitable applicator, spread a thin layer of the
mixture over the skin area to be treated. Then, cover the
treated area with a strip of the cotton fabric and rub your
hand a few times over the strip the opposite way that your
hair grows, press moderately. Grab the end of the fabric strip
and then quickly rip it off in the opposite direction of your
hair growth. Wash the treated area with warm water to remove
any sticky residue left on your skin then apply an unscented
skin cream or lotion if you want to.
