The Cost, Treatment and Facilities of Healthcare Service

Healthcare is a wide term which is used to refer to activities associated with the prevention, treatment and management of illness. It is delivered by specialist providers made up of doctors, nurses, therapists, home health aides, technicians and other paramedical staff.

Today, healthcare is one of the most rapid growing industries in the world. Healthcare in the US is provided by a couple of organizations, including non-profit hospitals which are run by state governments, religious orders, or independent non-profit organizations; for-profit hospitals run by individuals or large private corporations; outpatient clinics, run by healthcare professionals, especially doctors either independently or in partnership with other doctors.

Most Americans are covered by health insurance which covers the cost of healthcare. The insurance can be provided by the employer, bought by the individual or provided by the government. Americans who have no health insurance will need to bear the cost of healthcare, which can be very costly. In fact, healthcare continues to become more and more expensive with every passing year.

The organizations which benefit most from the rising costs of healthcare are usually private hospitals, big pharmaceutical companies and health insurance companies. All these entities usually have their own arguments to rationalize the high rates they charge.

The private hospitals put the responsibility of the high costs on hospital maintenance, buying of state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment as well as the manpower cost, especially the cost of hiring skilled physicians and surgeons while the pharmaceutical companies blame the high costs on research and development of new drugs. The insurance companies hold skyrocketing reimbursements as the reason for high healthcare premiums.

However, it is definitely no doubt that American hospitals provide the best healthcare in the world. In fact, they have some of the finest physicians and surgeons; the best diagnostic equipment as well as great hospitals. It is not a surprise that patients from all over the world have come to the US to enjoy these outstanding healthcare facilities.
