Infertility Diet
Infertility Diet: What To Avoid
Diet has an important effect in causing, controlling and
reversing a number of disorders that affect the human body.
For an instance, a high-fat diet increases the level of bad
cholesterol, LDL, which in turn causes a buildup of plaque
in the bloodstream which may eventually lead to heart disease.
Besides, if you stick to an exercise plan, quit smoking and
decrease or stop your alcohol intake so that you can increase
your good cholesterol, HDL. An increase in HDL is an important
part of maintaining your health.
Diet has shown to play a role in affecting the health of
an individual, as well as the reproductive system of both
males and females. An infertility diet should be a diet that
is void of alcohol, caffeine and smoking. All these substances
will greatly decrease the levels of fertility for both a man
and a woman.
Alcohol
Researches have proven that the intake of alcohol has unpleasant
effects upon the fertility of both a man and a woman. In fact,
a staggering statistic reflects that the ability to conceive
is reduced by 50 percent and of course, the more alcohol you
ingest the greater your risk or ability is in the conception
process.
The effects of alcohol, upon the woman’s reproductive
system, are shown through a recent study. In this study, it
compared the effects of five alcoholic beverages taken by
women and the effects of less than five alcoholic beverages
consumed by women. Those women who consumed five alcoholic
drinks or more have shown to be less likely to get pregnant.
The consumption of alcohol is shown to decrease the fertility
of men as well. The infertility is reflected in a lower sperm
count of a man. On top of that, through the ingestion of alcohol,
it highly mutated the sperm produced. Also, the mobility of
sperm was greatly affected. Therefore, as part of an infertility
diet, there should be no consumption or limited amounts of
alcohol drank.
Caffeine
Caffeine should be limited in an infertility diet, especially
caffeine that is found in coffee. Similar to alcohol, the
consumption of caffeinated coffee is known to have a side
affect on sperm count as well as the mobility of the sperm.
Besides limiting the intake of coffee, other products containing
caffeine should be eliminated or decreased in consumption
as part of an infertility diet.
Smoking
Some may argue that smoking is not necessarily a dietary
matter. So, it should not be linked to an infertility diet.
However, it is indeed a substance that is taken into the body.
Smoking has been shown to be a harmful to conception of a
child. It could also be an side effect on the woman’s
body, smoking may trigger early menopause. This is very important
if woman wants to conceive and that biological time of her
life is fast approaching.
Also, it has been proven that smoking have a negative effect
on sperm count and the sperm’s ability to be mobile.
Moreover, smoking has been linked to the development of abnormal
sperm.
