Managing Stress
Learn How To Manage Stress
Do you know what stress is? Or how does stress affect us?
When we have a fear, stress will be triggered and our body
and mind will be affected. There are changes in society, workplace
or home, which we have to constantly deal with them. Then,
stress will target our mind and send the residue to our body,
which influences our nervous system to explode.
Stress can be either positive or negative, it can lead us
to solving problem efficiently, or it can lead us to lose
control when problem occurs. When we are facing problems,
stress might open our minds to resources to help us to decide,
but, it might close our mind as well, which, will possibly
lead us to objections, distrust, depression or uncontrollable
anger.
When stress becomes negative and continues for a long time,
it can promote health related problems such as heart attacks,
strokes, high-blood pressure, diabetes or even other medical
problems. Stress becomes active when stressors present itself.
Some of the stressors include death, retrenchment, childbirth,
divorce, normal daily responsibilities and etc.
Like it or not, stress is consistent to a level and the stress
we all deal with everyday helps us to function properly at
home, in society or at work. There is never a way to avoid
stress completely, but we can learn to reduce our stress by
learning stress management so that we can cope when stress
escalates. When you feel that your stomach is in knots, your
mind is boggled, and your body is tensed, then you know the
stress in you is about to explode. Before you can manage your
stress, you must understand how stress affects our body and
mind, then relate the mind and body’s responses to stress,
and become familiar with the potential stressors that trigger
the stress.
If you feel the tension in your body, mind or stomach, then
you know the stress has reached its limits, that is when you
really need to sit down to review and identify the problems
and the reason they exist. You need to know that, you must
take time to analyze the problems and to eliminate the stress.
If you are trapped in a building and stress has reached its
limits, you might want to leave the building to recompose
yourself. There are plenty of things in your life that you
can change by contrast, comparing, analyzing the problems
and using your resources to handle the problems.
However, there are things in life that you can’t change
at all, that is when you should let go and let someone else
deal the problems that you cannot do anything about it. Fear
is the fundamental source of stress; therefore, we can tell
that your problem is triggered by fear. To manage your stress
efficiently, you will need to review your fear, listing out
valid reasons that the fear exists. What do you expect to
happen as a result of your problem? Do you always expect the
worst to happen or do you always see the light ahead?
Fear is a strong emotional stimulus which will be triggered
when danger presents. Fear is triggered by an expectation.
Those who always fear the worst will happen will fail to see
that there are actually solutions for most common dangers.
Unless you are on a plane with hijackers, or in another dangerous
situation most fears are exaggerated to a large degree. For
example if you are afraid of heights, you will foresee yourself
falling on the ground from a high place. Or to the extent
that you might even avoid going aboard on a plane, climbing
a ladder, or even standing on a chair.
The truth is, most plane rides are safer that traveling by
motor vehicle and most ladders are well-built if you position
the ladder accordingly. But, if you stand on an unstable chair
then of course your fear of falling is real, but if the chair
is strong and you are not subject to dizziness, it is unlikely
for you to fall. As you can see, fear of heights is both exaggerated
and real. Therefore, you must address your problems correctly,
minimize your fears and seek solutions that will solve the
problem you are facing. The process of deducing, analyzing,
weeding through problems and resources are the important elements
to managing stress. Of course, we will have to consider planning,
preparing, organizing, lists, and other details when it comes
to stress management.
Stress can either make your life more rewarding, or stress
can destroy your nerves, body and mind.
