Men's Skin Care
Understand Why Men Do Need Skin Care
‘Man skin care’ always seems to be an alien topic
to some men. But, more and more men are starting to realize
the importance of man skin care and hence has created a trend
of man skin care products too in the market too. Although
the male skin is very different from that of a female, but,
the process is about the same.
.
Similar to women skin care, man skin care too starts with
cleansing. Water soluble cleansers are always the better choice.
Cleansing helps to remove the dirt, grease and pollutants
from the skin when we are exposed to the air and to prevent
our pores from being clogged. The inherent oily nature of
male skin makes cleansing an extremely important part of man
skin care routine. Man should at least cleanse their face
once a day, if possible, twice a day is encouraged. Using
soap on the face is a big NO.
Shaving foam or gel and after shave lotion are a must for
every man. In fact, serious ‘man skin care’ requires
a proper selection of shaving related equipment and products.
Skin type should be one of the most important considerations
when choosing shaving products. Any aftershaves products with
alcohol-based should be avoided. Proper ‘man skin care’
also mandates the use of good quality razors. Here, swivel-head
razors are preferred because they are proven to reduce cuts.
With the right products and equipment, you will also have
to know how to use them properly. Be gentle when using your
razor. Do not scratch it against your skin, instead, use a
soft and smooth action to remove your hair, not skin.
Male skin is generally thicker and oilier, due to the fact
of larger pores and more active sebaceous glands. However,
due to regular shaving, the skin can get dehydrated quite
easily. Therefore, moisturizers too form an integral part
of man skin care. Men are encouraged to apply moisturizing
gel or cream after shaving. In fact, some shaving foams or
gel contain moisturizing effect too. Moisturizers should be
patted gently over the face and massaged gently using upward
strokes.
Although a man’s skin is less vulnerable to skin cancer
caused by UV radiation, using a sunscreen is also an important
man skin care measure. You might want to use a moisturizer
that combines sunscreen with the moisturizing effect.
Another good choice for ‘man skin care’ is to
use man skin care products with natural ingredients such as
aloe vera, sea salt and coconut etc. Naturally antiseptic
oils like lavender, tea tree etc also make good choices as
part of man skin care.
So, now you can see that man skin care is not as difficult
as a lot of men think. All it takes is only a few minutes
a day to give you a healthy skin for present and for future.
