The new food trend has hit the market, which is called the raw food approach, and from California to Connecticut, the trend appears to be gaining popularity.

The primary objective of the diet is uncooked, highly nutritious foods. The idea behind the diet is that food will lose nutritional value when they are cooked.

Majority of the supporters of raw food diet eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes. Beverages consist of unpasteurized milk, water, juice, and tea, but the diet excludes beer and liquor. This is definitely a revolutionary way to eat, and the dieters have claimed that it keeps them thin and healthy.

And, it is even more interesting to know that 5% of the calories in fruit are derived from protein, and almost half of the calories from vegetables are protein-based. Beans and grains derive about a quarter of their calories from protein. The supporters of raw diet insist that raw foods provide a better source of protein rather than the cooked ones, since the cooking process itself may destroy as much as half of the protein.
