Reward For Weight Loss
Stop Using Food As Reward! Learn The Healthier Alternatives.
Since we were young, we are accustomed to reward ourselves
with food. It might have started in kindergarten, when we
were treated to cupcakes at the annual Christmas party. It
may have continued through junior high and high school, when
we reached for the cookies after a long day at school. When
we finally frow up, we may buy a high-calorie frappucino to
celebrate a success on the job.
The problem is obvious,,food was not meant be a reward. It
exists simply to give us energy. If we often take food as
reward, we will be tempted to overeat. We believe that we
deserve it, that we’ve earned this opportunity to indulge.
We feel satisfied when we eat food that might otherwise be
forbidden.
Our food-as-reward culture has had disastrous consequences
on our body. The number of overweight people is rising, and
getting fatter by the year. We suffer from a myriad of health
problems as a result of our obesity. We may feel lethargic
and unmotivated and too lazy to exercise. Before you know
it, we have become a nation of couch potatoes.
We should know that we should not continue living this way.
We can simply stop rewarding ourselves with food. Of course,
it will not be as simple. We will have to change our mindset,
and find the other options to replace food as rewards. It
might not be easy, but it can be accomplished.
Now, let’s look at some ideas for rewards that do not
involve food:
1. Spend a day at the beach. This can clear your mind and
can be wonderfully invigorating.
2. Schedule some sports activity, it can be tennis, video
games, or even blowing bubbles.
3. Go shopping at a dollar store. This way, you will not spend
much but you could pick up some really great deals.
4. Bring your pet dog for a walk, you could even get some
pet toys for them.
5. Spend a day at a spa. You will be surprised at how good
it feels to be pampered.
6. Take your children to the playground, a roller rink, or
a swim club. By engaging in sports or spending time with your
children can leave you feeling refreshed and energized.
7. Buy a new CD from one of your favorite musical artists.
Then make sure you spend some quality time enjoying them.
8. If you play a musical instrument, you can sit down and
play a few tunes. Music has been known for a great mood-elevator.
If you don’t like the idea of finding an alternative
reward system, then you can just vary your routine. If you
are used to rewarding yourself with a high-calorie cappuccino
in the morning, then you can spend some time in quiet prayer
or reflection instead. If you have the habit of raiding a
candy store on your way home from work, then you just have
to take an alternate route instead. Generally, by keeping
yourself busy, it can prevent you from indulging in food rewards.
It is important for us to know that food should not be serve
as a good reward for us. Initially, it might seem hard to
get out of the food-as-reward habit, but it is well worth
the effort. When we no longer expect food as the prize, we
will organize our day differently. We’ll only devote
our mealtimes to food, and the rest of our day to some other
activities. We will eat only those foods that are good for
our health, as well as to stay in better shape.
