Stress Destroys
When we are under too much stress, stress can destroy
us. Learn the techniques to prevent stress from destroying
our life.
Stress can potentially destroy a person since it has the
power to affect our body and mind in a negative way.
A good degree of stress will help us to make good decision
that minimizes the stressors through out our life. When we
feel threatened, our emotions will be triggered and we tend
to make decisions based on our emotions rather than rationality.
Emotions are strong feelings that will hinder us from logical
thinking. When you let the emotions rule, a series of stress
and stressors will be following you.
Let’s take a look at this example. While a person is
at work, he has been given a task of finishing 10 reports
before the day ends. The person may comply or else act on
the emotional stimulus since a want or need exists. The person
decides the reports can wait and there he goes online searching
for a product that he had wanted for a long time.
Assume that this person finds the product he had long wanted,
but the other advertisements have grabbed his attention. In
the end that person explores all the links and read all the
information available. He then realized that a couple of hours
had passed and he was left with 2 hours to work on the report.
An hour before the work ended, the boss had come in and demanded
for the reports, but the person only managed to complete 3
reports in the end.
Now, you see a potential stress arises. The person decided
to follow his emotions to surf online rather than sticking
to his reports. Will he be fired? It is possible. But of course
we would not know what happens next and how reliable the person
is and if the boss is aware of his or her behaviors?
Here is another example that tells us how good decisions
can reduce stress and eliminate stressors. Consequences follow
when a oood or bad decision is made.
For example, a lady has a choice of hanging out with her
friends or meeting her husband at a time. The lady is pretty
torn now under pressure, she loves hanging out with her friends
but she loves her husband as well. Assume that this lady is
very caring and passionate; she realizes the boundaries and
decides to meet her husband since he is the most important
choice. She excuses herself and apologizes to her friends
and attend the meeting with her husband. Now, we can see that
the stress and stressors were minimized since that lady made
a good decision by going out with her husband. The following
consequences are minimal and positive.
From here we can see, our decisions often determine the stress
and stressors. If we make good decisions, the consequences
will be positive and potential stress is minimized. And, we
act on emotions and make bad decision, it can destroy our
lives. If we drink and drive, we are both harming ourselves
and the other road users.
Don’t forget that stress can cause heart disease, strokes,
high-blood pressure, tumors, heart attacks, and etc. If stress
is constantly ruling our lives, stress and problems can be
expected. If we find the way we think or behave causes us
potential stress, then probably we should review our behaviors
and thinking patterns.
Beliefs play a role in our decision making because beliefs
are a state of mind that is habit prone. If you are always
under stress, then you might want to learn about the way you
handle stress to make your life more rewarding. One common
problem is, people often do not expect or believe that the
bad thing cannot happen to them, they are playing a powerful
deck of card and someone else is holding the winning hands.
