Stress Reduction
Stress reduction techniques are essential to prepare
us to face a storm ahead, spend a few minutes to understand
and master the art of stress reduction.
With stress reduction techniques, we can manage our lives
effectively. There are several way for us to reduce stress,
such as reviewing life and its potential problems, solutions
and resources.
Let’s quote an example. Now, you are a family man,
you are set up with a home, children, job, car, entertainment,
and other related responsibilities. Your home, vehicle and
career may have been established to succeed in life. Once
a week, you enjoy quality time with the family, and you visit
your friends occasionally to catch up with each other. You
have a steady job and you see no worries at all since you
feel everything is under control. Your security is established,
you are confident, and your emotions are in tact. Everything
seems perfect, so you are relaxing when you arrive home from
work, since your job has proven to be fruitful from your hard
work.
Now this is a situation where stressors and stress are minimal.
Since we can never reduce stress totally from our lives, we
have to question this setting. The husband has nothing to
worry about since he has established what appears to be a
firm foundation for his family.
But, is the husband ready for stressors and stress? Will
be husband be prepared in case of disaster? Is the husband
thinking that life will remain faithful or is he expecting
that troubles that could attack at any time? Finally, is the
husband ready to make decisions when troubles occur, and is
he well prepared for his family for the problems that are
potential in their future? Does the family have a resource,
support group, and help available when troubles occur. Maybe
they have a savings which they believe money would bail them
out of all problems.
Analyze the situation again to see where stressors and stress
exist? Since, we do not know what is the family plan, we are
going to assume that this family is stable, secure and is
not prepared with a stress management scheme in case the worst
case scenario occurs.
By assuming this, we can presume that the family is not prepared
to handle misfortune at a higher level than the usual problems.
We can see that the family does not have a stress management
relief when a high impact situation attacks. We can only think
that the family is not maximizing their wits, since we cannot
determine if the family can make right decisions when they
face a major problem.
Sorry to say, we are going to create a series of problems
for this family to see how prepared we all are in any case
when disaster hits. Now, the world is good and the family
is happier more than ever. The happy days continue for the
family and all the responsibilities are taken care of.
All of a sudden, everyone wakes up one fine sunny afternoon
and finds that the dad has been retrenched; mom has not been
working since dad has it all under control. Now the panic
strikes, the husband burns in frustration since he has lost
his job, a minimal security to take care of his family and
responsibilities. He thinks he has enough money in his account
to take care of the mortgages and bills until he finds another
job. He then calls his bank to find that his identity has
been stolen and his banking accounts are drained out.
OUCH! That definitely hurts. Right now we have a real life
problem with stressors overwhelming that our nerves are burnt.
Let us see how well prepared this family could be in the event
stress is too intense. Now, we all know that we are a victim
of retrenchement and identity theft. Where is the backup plan?
Had the husband be prepared and had everything planned, he
would immediately know that he needed to do to deal with the
legal process of identity theft and unemployment.
Now we know he had a stress management plan thinking that
his savings would protect the family in case of job lost,
but we see that his mind is blown when he hears the news from
his bank.
Now, you have to think about this, what would you have done
in times like this and search your mind to find the best stress
management.
