Ultrasonic Liposuction
Ultrasonic Liposuction Is Dangerous!
Ultrasonic assisted liposuction, which is more commonly known
as ultrasonic liposuction, has become less popular by surgeons
in the United States after the risks and complications are
exposed. Compared to other liposuction surgeries, ultrasonic
liposuction is considered to be dangerous.
When the devices were sold in Europe, many doctors made complaints
about the complications and the items were removed from the
market. Somehow later, ultrasonic liposuction devices made
their way to the United States, claiming to be medically sophisticated
and the newest effective technology in the field of liposuction
and weight reduction surgery. American surgeons stopped buying
the product and the company eventually filed bankruptcy.
There are several risks that we can related to ultrasonic
liposuction, such as blood clotting, peripheral nerve damage,
and a build up of infected fluid. Peripheral nerve damage
usually occurs in arms, legs, neck, or face and can far outweigh
any benefits that the patient will experience. One particular
web site claims that the results are similar to that of traditional
liposuction but the risks are increased. It explains that
ultrasonic liposuction is not a replacement of other therapy,
but more as an enhancement.
The Risks Of Ultrasonic Liposuction
Other than regular bruising, scarring, and fluid retention,
there are other risks involved in ultrasonic liposuction as
well. Even a very qualified plastic surgeon might experience
complications and difficulties, therefore it is very important
for you to make sure that your doctor has admitting and treatment
privileges at a hospital you are close to and familiar with.
Some doctors are granted the privilege of admitting patients,
but cannot treat them in that or another hospital. This is
the type of information an informed patient needs to request,
and must be positive with the answers.
Some ultrasonic liposuction complications can occur even
after the surgery has been performed. If the procedure itself
does not cause severe scarring, the patient may still end
up with baggy or rippled skin, or brown spots caused by pigmentation
changes. Besides the scarring, it is also possible that the
procedure will cause you an uneven appearance, which you might
need additonal procedures to even out the appearance of the
body.
If you are a smoker, drinker or take drug, they can complicate
ultrasonic liposuction surgery, as can uncontrolled diabetes,
all of them can cause serious infection and/or inability to
heal properly. Some drugs regulate the blood’s clotting
ability, therefore patients should not be taking any aspirin
products prior to surgery.
There are also some rare and potentially life threatening
complications that you have to know when you decide to undergo
any surgical procedure, which of course includes an ultrasonic
liposuction. These include dangers of local and general anesthesia,
and damage to internal organs. It is also possible to suffer
excessive fluid intake, excessive blood loss, hypothermia,
and infection. Potential allergic reactions to medication,
pneumonia, cardiac arrest, cardiac arrhythmias, brain damage
if oxygen is deprived during anesthesia, seizures, and death
are obviously the most important complication concerns.
Achieving a toned
and firm body may not need the knife to help you, there
might be other
alternatives out there that might just work for you!
