Even as a vegetarian, you will still need to pay attention to portion control and calorie counts. Although vegetarianism may not be a universal remedy for weight loss, it can certainly help in preventing the bulge.

It is worth mentioning that, some people mistakenly take vegetarianism as a quick fix to weight loss, thinking that by giving up on meat for a few weeks they will lose weight, and, return their old eating habits after the trial period. This is a bad pattern because it promotes yo-yo dieting. If you decide to go on a vegetarian diet, it is you have to stick through it, if not, you may be greatly disappointed in your weight loss progress.

As we can see, vegetarianism is not exactly suitable for everyone. If you are good at planning your meals, non-committal about meat, love fruits and vegetables then this approach might suit you.
