Viral Influenza
Human Beings VS Bird Flu
Viral influenza is the disease which is more commonly as
flu or cold. The symptoms of this disease in humans are such
as headache, fever, loss of appetite, body ache, acute irritability,
no taste in the mouth, running nose and eyes, fatigue, weakness,
need to keep eyes closed and so on.
This type of flu happens very commonly in humans from time
immemorial. It can last up from three to seven days, during
which must be treated with a lot fluids and symptomatic medicines.
The avian flu of avian viral influenza is caused by the H5N1
virus which somehow have the ability of mutation to enter
the blood of human and attack their system. In other words,
the avian flu is probably the first even virus which has crossed
the species barrier and by doing so was about to begin a pandemic.
Fortunately, nothing of the sort happened and we were saved
from yet another medical disaster.
The viral influenza which comes through the birds has been
proven deadly in many cases for humans. Thank god that science
was already working on this and today we have a vaccine against
this horror. But, how long is it going to take to get yet
another virus that is able to cross the barriers between the
species. Maybe by then that we could somehow block these types
of animal viruses out of the blood.
The spread of the disease was through touching the excreta
of the birds and passing on the virus in the blood when the
infected hand touched mucous membrane of the body, including
eyes, nose, mouth or genitalia. The viral influenza once passed
on in the blood that way, has the ability to kill and did
kill humans within 48-72 hours which is a very scary prospect.
The symptoms of bird flu resemble all the normal symptoms
people have, on top of eye infection. The avian flu has also
caused many other complications such as severe respiratory
problems, pneumonia, and respiratory distress and etc. Tests
can be done on any of the mucus of the body to find out whether
the viral influenza virus, such as H5N1 is present.
Fortunately, human-to-human contacts are not as fast as from
bird-to-human. Therefore, if the human contact with the birds
is being limited, the pandemic could be averted by itself.
The poultry however will need to be sacrificed in entirety
in order to contain the spread of the virus any further.
