Women’s Health
Associate
The Roles of Women’s Health Associate
In rural surroundings, you will probably find the term ‘women’s
health associate’ used a lot. Certain women volunteers
go through all the hardships involved with the austere life
in villages in order to help women to organize and recognize
disease symptoms which come with menopause. These women usually
call themselves women’s health associates because they
act as health advisors for the women in that particular area.
If you wish to make a difference in somebody’s life,
it is important that you have the determination and will.
You will have to empathize and care for others who cannot
and do not have the facilities and/or access to the minimum
basic human facilities.
The amenities include medical attention, eating three square
meals a day, having a glass of milk, and etc. This is probably
the reason why in most of the rural areas women are neglected
by their children and husband and then even by themselves.
In a world full of poverty, it is heart warming to know that
there are those who care about the world. In the rural countries,
women are sometimes not treated with the respect and the attention
that they deserve, and this is also why they are not so good
in treating themselves.
The women’s health associates will educate the women
about taking care of themselves; there is no beauty in this
world without health. With the help from health associates,
many women will get their anemia treated and they will also
be able find out if there is any other disease developing
in their bodies. This test should be repeated after 2-3 years
and so on so in case a disease develops, it can be controlled.
Also, the living conditions in which many women live are
awful. Poor sewerage and the improper diet lead to many health
problems in themselves, but for women who have lived their
entire lives in such a manner, it is essential to educate
them on how to keep their environment clean.
The women’s health associates can and should educate
women. They should learn how to have balanced meals in order
to provide the body sufficient energy, vitamins and minerals
to keep fit and healthy. The women’s health associate
is the one who makes sure that everybody in the village knows
what they are talking about, and knowledge leads to good health.
