Stress refers to the consequences of the failure in responding appropriately to emotional or physical threats, whether it is actual or imagination (ref: The Stress of Life, Hans Selye, New York: McGraw-Hill, 1956). An ordinary person like us always stress in life for, workplace, family responsibility, or career; we will never stop thinking about all these concerns that we are responsible for. So, can you imagine how does a Prime Minister/President (in general), live their life with more stress than an ordinary person like us?

As mentioned at our previous blog, stress is one of the main cause of insomnia (Blog: Insomnia Causes & Cures). Yes, this is so true that it does not need to be scientifically proven, as most of us will keep flipping ourselve on the bed whenever we are unable to sleep well. Why? Because we are unable to relax our mind and keep thinking about many many dilemmas.

So, all you need to do is to manage stress. How? You can start on by understanding your current situation, such as thoughts, emotions, schedules, and environment. You will have to do a balancing in your lifestyle, work, socials, relaxation, fun, and family. Whenever you are doing something, associate your mind well to the task that you are doing. For example, when you are in work, just focus yourself in work, do not tag along your family dilemma to work, as it will definitely affect your job performance, as well as affect your mind. Similarly, keep your mind away from work when you are in relaxation mode.

There are many other mini ways of managing stress such as using stress balls, going for a mild jogging, or attending yoga classes; these are very dependable on the invidual, as they do have their own way of managing their stress. However, there are still many people using the unhealthy ways in managing their stress, such as excessive taking in food & alcoholic drinks or shopping like a shopaholic. These are so unhealthy, however some people still will find it works for them.

So, it is very much dependable on each individual as they can accept which ways of managing or releasing their stress. Anyway, what’s most important is relax your mind when you can.
